Great Neck is full of established neighborhoods and mature trees, similar to Little Neck. Alanton, Brighton on the Bay, Laurel Cove, The Reserve, Broad Bay Point Greens, Chelsea, etc. Like a great floor plan, there are neighborhoods, like rooms, tucked away off the main traffic area. Great Neck sounds busy, right? Only if you want it to be. I really can’t stress enough how many great restaurants there are within about 5 minutes from the center of Great Neck. Some of my favorites include Havanas, The Coastal Grill, Burtons, Cobalt Grille, and O’Yummy Sushi! There are many others. There’s a hospital, Cox and First Colonial High Schools, Cape Henry Collegiate, the Great Neck Recreation Center, a YMCA, a Whole Foods (think I mentioned that already, but it’s worth repeating), Trader Joes, Fresh Market, Total Wine, Petsmart, Target, and a ton of unique eateries.

You will find grocery stores at the top, middle, and bottom of Great Neck. It takes about 10 minutes to drive from The Hilltop Shopping Center at the bottom of Great Neck to Shore Drive and the beaches at the top. Little Neck is also a fantastic place to live, but there is no bridge at the top like in Great Neck. While very similar to Little Neck in size (the peninsula next door), Great Neck is different in that Great Neck Road provides access from the I-264 straight up to Shore Drive. The schools are very strong and the commute is short to the Chesapeake Bay, the Atlantic beaches, the highway, and Whole Foods (or Kroger, Farm Fresh, or any of the seemingly endless supply of restaurants and bars). If your budget is over about $400,000 Great Neck will be a strong candidate for your choice of neighborhoods in Virginia Beach. Great Neck is a peninsula right in the middle of the northern half of Virginia Beach.
